The concierge of the Paris private residence where Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint reportedly wrote an open letter in the French magazine, Closer. The letter was penned following news reports that Kardashian found his behavior during the attack to be a little off.

Kardashian reportedly told Paris police during an extensive phone interview on Tuesday that the concierge was extremely calm during the robbery, even though he had been handcuffed and was being held at gunpoint by the assailants. During the robbery she reportedly asked the 40-year-old concierge if he thought they were going to die. TMZ reports that he calmly replied, “I don’t know.”

In the open letter, the concierge reportedly defended his calm behavior, saying it saved their lives. “Dear Kim: When you feel the cold steel of a gun at your neck, it is the moment when remaining calm can mean the difference of life or death, both our lives,” he wrote, per TMZ. “I hope you are feeling better.”

Kardashian is now home in California with her family as she recuperates from the attack, which left her feeling “absolutely traumatized.”
