A Norwegian talk show is an odd choice of venue to stir up decades-old drama, but that’s just where Tyra Banks chose to air hers. BuzzFeed dug up the supermodel’s appearance (alongside her partner Erik Asla, who is Norwegian) on the show Skavlan, where she talks about her feud with Naomi Campbell. Banks feels the industry pitted the two preeminent black models of the era against one another, and as a result, Campbell put her through what she now calls “some of the lowest times of my life.” Banks added, “To this day, I’m very scared of her.” Even, it seems, after their famous détente on her TV show.
Banks also reflected on diversity in modeling, which she doesn’t think has improved since her runway heyday. “It’s gone backwards in terms of the runway,” she said, “but with advertisement it’s gone more diverse.” Watch the whole segment below.
