Leave it to kids to manage to bring a smile to weary New Yorkers in the aftermath of the bitter 2016 presidential election. On Thursday, anyone who happened to pass outside Hillary Clinton’s campaign headquarters in Brooklyn was met with a sweet, sweet surprise: messages filled with love and appreciation, written in chalk on the sidewalk.
Kids and their families scribbled plenty of thank-yous and other encouraging notes on the pavement following the stunning upset at the end of the campaign. There were notes proclaiming “Black Lives Matter,” as well as Clinton’s slogan, “Love Trumps Hate.” There were many colored hearts around, too. Take a look:
