Welcome, Dolls! This week’s episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians was the final episode of season 12. This season has brought us so much joy and grief, and this episode in particular brought us some dates we’ll want to hold on to forever. I won’t make you wait: Come on through to your last KUWTKE of 2016!
Our A plot was Rob and Chyna’s baby shower; our B plot was Kris Jenner’s accident; and our C plot involved more of Rob. I’ve got some Thanksgiving Day sides to prepare so, #LEGGO.
Scene 1/Cold Open:
Khloé Kardashian invites both Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner to relax in her home. However, out of the blue, Khloé’s guests criticize the amount of fruit she has chosen to keep in her kitchen. World traveler Kendall comments that Khloé’s fruit would be of better use if it were served to children in Africa. Kourtney thinks its presence is simply wasteful. Khloé’s not having it, and tells both Kendall and Kourtney to go elsewhere in Calabasas because she eats a TON of fruit, okay!? To prove it, she explains that she consumes a bowl of fruit each morning and a fruit smoothie every afternoon. Plus, she has fruit trees somewhere on her property. After Khloé lashes out at them regarding her fruit consumption, Kourtney and Kendall enjoy the healthy snacks in silence. Khloé defended her right to own fruit on August 5, 2016.
Scene 2:
Health maven Kourtney hosts Khloé and Kim at her house. Apparently Kourtney’s been drinking floral drops that cause her to be more emotional. She cried at an Adam Levine song in the car, which basically just means she’s a real mom. Khloé tells Kourtney to stop crying so much because that’s not really her brand. Kim remains silent on the subject. The sisters have gathered to contact Blac Chyna about her baby shower, and it seems Kim wants to focus on that task alone or nothing at all. Each of Rob’s sisters will be out of town during Chyna’s baby shower, so they’d like to do something that makes up for that. It’s unsaid, but Kourtney and Kim will be in Paris at that time. They call Chyna, and she’s okay with the news. Still, the sisters overly emphasize their desire to “spoil” Chyna with a day of pampering and gifts. Chyna tells them to set it up;she’ll be there. The sisters feel successful. This scene was filmed on August 11, 2016.
Scene 4/Scene 5:
While Kylie and Khloé prepare for a day of filming at Khloé’s house, Khloé’s assistant, Alexa, rushes in to tell the sisters that Kris has been involved in an accident. The scene of the accident is near, so Kylie and Khloé rush to be by Kris’s side.
Khloé and Kylie arrive to see Kris’s car completely totaled. Kris hasn’t suffered any serious injuries but is in shock as she sits in the front seat of a Range Rover. Her daughters stare at her. Kris was involved in an accident on August 3, 2016.
Scene 6:
Following the accident, Kris’s children and her employee Corey Gamble rally around her. Kim, who didn’t make it to the accident, is told what happened by her mom. She listens closely. Liberal enemy, known Trump supporter, and problematic robot Kanye West is there, too. Someone most likely programmed his machinery to hug Kris in her time of crisis, so that’s what he does. Like Kris, her kids are shaken by the accident. They’re realizing that life is fleeting and things could have turned out differently. Like Scenes 4 and 5, this scene was filmed on August 3, 2016.
Scene 7:
Days after the accident, Kim visits Kris. Kris is laid up in the bed and tells Kim she’s exhausted and achy. Without missing a beat, Kim offers to help Kris with any work she has. Skeptically, Kris accepts Kim’s help. The main task at hand is coordinating Kylie’s upcoming trip to Australia. Kris tells Kim that the deal isn’t as easy as it seems – she’s in charge of getting Kylie there, plus figuring out glam, a hotel, and an appearance fee. Kim thinks she can handle it, until she calls Kylie. On the phone, Kim asks if Kylie wants to save money by hiring hair and makeup people locally in Australia. Kylie all but laughs Kim off the phone, and tells her no. After watching Kim experience her first managerial roadblock, Kris looks at Kim like she’s Tyga*. This scene was filmed on August 8, 2016.
*Useless trash.
Scene 8:
Kim Kardashian West, Rob Kardashian, and Scott Disick retreat to KUWTK season 12’s main filming location — Khloé Kardashian’s home. Everyone admires Kim’s lingerie look, and Khloé suggestively handles a popsicle. Things soon turn to business as usual when Khloé asks Rob about his mental state and relationship with Chyna. Rob claims to be all right, even though he and Chyna aren’t living together. He also doesn’t give his sisters a straight answer when they ask if he is engaged or not. All he manages to communicate is that if he and Chyna were completely broken up, she wouldn’t still be wearing his ring. Beyond his complicated relationship with Chyna, Rob laughs through his admission of having no idea how to take care of a baby. He’s cutting himself a break because he’s a first-time dad — he doesn’t think he should bother to learn much before the baby is born.
Everyone urges Rob to learn some things about parenting before Chyna delivers their child, but he’s not pressed at all. Khloé takes Rob to show him her new guesthouse, leaving Kim and Scott alone. Kim asks Scott how he feels about Rob and Chyna’s setup, and Scott admits that he’s not the best fatherhood example since his situation is unconventional. All Scott wants is for Rob and Chyna to get on the same page when it comes to raising their kid. Kim agrees. This scene, like Scene 2, was filmed on August 11, 2016.
Scene 11:
Kim, now her family’s manager, is taking her new job very seriously. She visits Kylie on the set of her Complex cover shoot, and has Khloé join so they can discuss some business, which includes Khloé’s new fitness line, called KhloFit. Kim and Khloé are a bit distracted by how good Kylie looks in her latex wardrobe. When we look back at this scene in our history books, it shall be noted that this is the exact moment when both Kim and Khloé realized that their expiration date was sooner than they thought. Through gritted teeth, the sisters tell Kylie that she looks “hot.” They both leave soon after. This scene was filmed on July 19, 2016, almost three weeks before Kim agreed to be her family’s manager.
Scene 12:
Khloé visits Kourtney for a day of sitting and staring at everything but each other. They take a break from this to talk about Chyna’s day of pampering/baby shower. Khloé tells Kourtney that she’s unsure they should do something for just Chyna since she and Rob may not even be together. Kourtney feels the same, so they call Rob and ask if it’s okay to throw him and Chyna a joint baby shower to celebrate the both of them. Rob is completely down, and very grateful to his sisters for this sweet gesture. Happy, the sisters get back to staring at stuff. This scene was filmed on August 23, 2016. This was almost two weeks after Rob told Khloé about his declining relationship with Chyna in Scene 8. Oddly, Scene 8 was filmed on the same day as Scene 2, when the Kardashian sisters initially asked Chyna if they could do something special for her.
Scene 16:
Khloé invites her manager, Kimberly West, into her home to properly yell at her for doing a poor job. Kim had arranged for herself and Khloé to meet with a marketing team for her KhloFit line, and Kim bailed on the meeting. Kim doesn’t think her absence was such a big deal, as she was working on a deal for Kylie. Plus, Kim says she’ll get the report sheet from the meeting and tie up any loose ends. Khloé’s still upset and wants an explanation for being the sister who always gets the short end of the attention stick. Despite her sister and client being upset with her work ethic, Kim reminds Khloé that at the very least she got her a KhloFit meeting. Looking Khloé deep in her eyes, Kim says, “Did Kris Jenner even set up the meeting? No.” Once Khloé calms down a bit, Khloé tells Kim that the main takeaway is that Kris needs a team of people to make sure each sister has adequate attention.This scene was filmed on July 31, 2016, just days before Kris’s accident and Kim agreeing to take over Kris’s duties.
Scene 19:
At Khloé’s house, Kim and Kourtney visit to wrap up some elements of the story line. Before getting down to business, Kim tells her sisters that she believes she was once in a Tupac video. Neither Kourtney nor Khloé believe her, but Kim swears by her statement and vows to find the footage. After this, Kim tells her sisters that Rob doesn’t want to come to their baby shower anymore. He said that Chyna’s pregnancy has been awful for him and he’s no longer in the celebratory mood. The sisters decide Rob will come to the baby shower if Chyna isn’t there, so they call her up to politely uninvite her. On the phone, Chyna is annoyed at Rob’s sudden change of emotion; then, in an obvious voice-over, Chyna tells the Kardashian sisters to have the shower just for Rob. Though they’re over Rob’s constant emotional changes, the sisters agree that this is best. This scene was filmed on September 22, 2016.
Scene 20:
It’s finally the day of Chyna’s special day of pampering, Rob and Chyna’s baby shower, Rob’s baby shower. Rob’s loved ones are roaming around Kourtney’s property aimlessly when Kim gets a call from Rob. He’s very angry that Chyna has been disinvited and is therefore refusing to come to the shower. Kim breaks the news to her family, and to cope they put on DILF hats and curse Rob’s name. Like Scene 19, this scene was filmed on September 22, 2016. Rob must also hold a grudge hard, since, out of anger over this shower mishap, he tweeted Kylie’s phone number on September 26.
Scene 22:
Days after the baby-shower debacle, Rob and Chyna head to Kourtney’s to open their gifts. The couple now understands that there were some severe miscommunications when it came to the baby shower, and are apologetic to the family. With everyone looking on, Rob and Chyna open gifts for their baby girl, including a pink baby coat that Rob came home from the hospital in when he was a newborn. Aside from that, the soon-to-be parents receive mini Range Rovers, Hermès clothing, and other designer goods. More shocking than everyone using Kourtney’s pool table as a gift table and playpen is the date on which this scene was filmed. This scene was filmed on October 10, 2016, just over a week after Kim was robbed in Paris on October 3, 2016. Khloé taped an appearance for Ellen on this day and said Kim was doing terribly. In the scene Kim seems to be in good spirits, which is great news. This also means that the KUWTK filming hiatus lasted only a week.
Well, Dolls. This marks the end of season 12 of E!’s critically acclaimed docu-drama Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
