Last week, One Direction member Louis Tomlinson’s mother, Johannah Deakin, sadly passed away after a long battle with leukemia. Choosing to return to The X Factor stage that propelled him to international stardom, Tomlinson put on a brave face despite the difficult circumstances to debut his new single “Just Hold On.” The upbeat, electronic-heavy song (featuring Steve Aoki) serves as Tomlinson’s first-ever solo outing, with the lyrics now adding a further level of poignancy due to his mother’s death: “Oh until it’s all been said, it’s not over until your dying breath. So what do you want them to say when you’re gone? That you gave up or that you kept going on? What do you do when a chapter ends? Do you close the book and never read it again?” The track is now available on most music outlets for streaming and purchasing.
