Adam Rippon is an extraordinarily talented, well-eyebrowed athlete, and the first openly gay man to compete for the U.S. in the Winter Olympics. Mike Pence is the husband of Mother Pence, and has been described as “the most vociferously and consistently anti-gay statewide elected official in the country”. For the past few weeks, these two men have been at odds because Rippon didn’t want to meet Pence, who would be leading the U.S. delegation into the 2018 Olympic Games, and Pence was sad about it. Now, for some reason, First Son Donald Trump Jr. has decided to insert himself into the drama.

After Rippon told reporters, “I don’t want my Olympic experience being about Mike Pence,” Don Jr. tweeted, “Really? Then Perhaps you shouldn’t have spent the past few weeks talking about him. I haven’t heard him mention you once???” which sounds like a really cruel thing a frenemy would say to you after you got in a fight with someone.

But Pence has mentioned Rippon, of course. After the Olympian said he didn’t want to meet Pence, the Vice-President tweeted that he was “FOR” Rippon, and proud of him and “ALL OF OUR great athletes”.

Clearly there’s no need for Don Jr. here. Maybe he should stick to what he knows best: rap and camo.
