The Best Street Style From Milan Fashion Week
Innovation abounds in Milan, haven’t you heard? From drones at Dolce & Gabbana to puppies at Tod’s to severed heads at Gucci, designers are certainly finding ways to refresh the runway. Showgoers have a more difficult ask — make street style exciting again. Thankfully, they’re up to the task.
Let’s start off with the attendee who wore a tea-length black cape that lacked arm holes, but had a hood. Met Gala–ready. Keeping with the vibrant spirit of Milan, many opted for colorful, printed looks. One of the best was a cardigan with stars, mushrooms, and jellyfish knitted into the pattern (with fringe!) and paired with a cowboy-boot-shaped bag and zebra-striped boots. If you’re having trouble getting your point across, take a cue from one of our subjects, who just wore a baseball cap with “I <3 Milano” on it. Direct and to the point.
A more polished option was a tweed skirt-suit, reminiscent of Lindsay Lohan’s in The Parent Trap, but paired with glittery Chanel boots and silver earrings instead of a charming English butler. The humble khaki-colored chino emerged as an unlikely hero piece for Milan — normcore at its finest. Roll yours up for extra cool factor. Or throw on some mustard-colored suede for an on-trend tonal look.
