Ever since the matte liquid lipstick trend seems to have eased up, lighter, more nourishing glosses, oils, and stains have made their way back into our hearts and cosmetic bags. Next month, Clarins will launch four new matte Water Lip Stains that feel equally hydrating and summertime-ready.
The conditioning, feather-light formula is made up of organic aloe vera and raspberry water as well as Clarins’ Anti-Pollution complex to protect lips from the environment. And the vast majority of it — 77 percent, to be exact — is water-based. The stain is said to last for up to 300 kisses, so go forth and put it to the test. The wear could also be measured in sips of wine if you prefer. In that case, it would last for about one and a half happy hours. Not bad!
Because the stain is as light as water, you can build it up for a customizable finish each time. The matte stains can go from a barely there tint to an intensely pigmented stain that looks like it could actually be lipstick. Shade 01 Rose Water gives lips a natural pink flush, Shade 02 Orange Water is a bright tangerine tint, Shade 03 Red Water is a bold cherry hue, and Shade 04 Violet Water gives lips a raspberry tint.
The stains come with a tiny brush that makes lining the lips and swiping on color a breeze. Clarins recommends using them underneath one of its several Joli Rouge lipstick shades for a more vibrant finish, or under the Light Lip Comfort Oil for a glossy finish.
The Water Lip Stains will be available starting June 1 from Clarins.
