Eye-catching style is by no means reserved for the fashion crowd. Behold, the well-dressed attendees of the Frieze New York Art Fair. Amid large-scale dining-room sets and suspended, mirrored clouds, these peacocks take in the newest offerings of the art world while dressed for the Instagrammable moments that await them.
This crowd of gallerists, artists, patrons, celebrities, and bloggers brings an eclectic mix of styles to Randall’s Island, including utility jumpsuits, bright patterns, springtime ruffles, and of course, this being the art crowd, lots of black. But it wouldn’t be Frieze if it didn’t include some more unexpected touches, like a tool bag purse that could have been pulled straight from the broom closet and an intricately beaded chest piece.
Photographer Gus Powell captured the fashionable frenzy of Frieze’s opening day for the Cut. Find his best shots ahead.
