Goddammit. Listen. I know we all have things to be grateful for: our health if we’re healthy, our loved ones if we have any, the roofs over our heads if we’re indoors. But I cannot help but feel an intense surge of anger (even though I meditate for ten minutes roughly twice per week) while looking at this photo of Kendall Jenner at Cannes. Goddammit. Why am I not in that bathing suit with a glass of rosé, long legs, trendy albeit not-my-style sunglasses, a pool toy, and a bold red lip in the South of France? That’s what I want. Why don’t I have it? Why am I in front of a computer instead? What have I done to deserve not this, i.e., everything displayed here in this photo?
