30 Fantastically Costumed Dogs From the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade
In August, New York City residents, both human and canine, were devastated to find that the city’s beloved Tompkins Square Dog Halloween Parade was canceled. The parade had brought joy to countless humans and their dogs dressed as astronauts, butterflies, and little pizzas for 27 years, and it seemed that joy had come to an end. Salvation came in October, however, when the event’s organizers announced that the parade was back on, albeit in a different location. The holiday was saved, thank dog!
On Sunday, October 28, hundreds of owners flocked to the new location at the East River Park Amphitheater on the Lower East Side to proudly display their little costumed friends. Among the dogs: a sweet little bat, a hot dog, and multiple dinosaurs. For those of you who couldn’t witness the joy firsthand, please witness it secondhand through our gallery.
