A Heartwarming Runway Show Raises Money for Kids With Cancer
A runway show can be a lot of things — among them inspiring and cheesy — but rarely are they heartwarming. Yesterday at Kleinfeld Bridal, young girls aged 2–10 battling cancer strutted on the runway as part of the annual charity fashion show Runway Heroes. The charity, which has been around since 2014, aims to provide a fun, confidence-boosting day for the girls. The models got to pick out their own dresses from Kleinfeld’s Bridal Party collection, and were given a special runway class by supermodel Coco Rocha.
“You look at these girls and you think they’re just girls, there couldn’t be anything wrong with them,” Rocha told the Cut. “Then you realize they’re dealing with a whole lot. I felt like I wanted to burst into tears when I realized how special each of them are.”
Say Yes to the Dress host Randy Fenoli emceed the event, announcing each girl with her name and a few words about what she wants to be when she grows up, her favorite activities, or her notable traits. On the runway, the girls showed off poses for their friends, family, and other supporters gathered around. In the audience, some parents were crying. See some of the scene below.
