All Your Boyfriends Partied With a Robot

Suspend, if you will, the ever-present fear that robots are coming for all our jobs — they’re coming for our party invitations, too. On Friday, Rag & Bone threw a dinner party at the Weylin in Brooklyn in lieu of a fashion show; they invited an Artificial Intelligence machine designed by Ross Goodwin to the function.

Known as Distinguished Guest, the AI spent the night mingling with other dinner invitees, including quite a few Internet Boyfriends: Lakeith Stanfield, Justin Theroux, André Holland, Oscar Isaac, Evan Peters, Liev Schriber, Matthew Rhys, Gabriel-Kane Day Lewis, and Paul Thomas Anderson. Also in attendance were Carolyn Murphy, Ajak Deng, Camille Rowe, Emma Roberts, and Emily DiDinato, among others; as the dinner party — ominously titled A Last Supper — went on, Distinguished Guest picked up on human mannerisms and conversation. We’ll find out what it absorbed on February 11, when the brand releases a video the AI edits. Think of it as a computer-generated IG TV video, complete with a Thom Yorke song to set the mood.
