During a two-day trip to New Zealand, Prince William was stopped in front of an adoring crowd on Saturday and asked a very pressing question, according to People. Prince William’s brother, Prince Harry, and his wife, Meghan Markle, are expecting their first child any day now — and everyone wants to know as many details as possible about the arrival of the next royal.
While the Duke of Cambridge was shaking hands and exchanging pleasantries with the lines of people gathered to see him, one anonymous woman asked what we are all clamoring to know: “Any signs of the royal baby?”
Unfortunately, Prince William kept a tight lip on the situation, making a quick joke and avoiding giving the woman (and us!) a real answer.
“I haven’t got my phone on me,” Prince William said, according to a video of the interaction. “I have no idea! You guys will find out before I do at this rate!”
That’s doubtful, but it doesn’t seem like we’ll be getting a definitive answer anytime soon. Meghan has been out of the public eye and has stepped back from her royal duties ahead of her very near due date, but it appears that the baby hasn’t arrived yet — and not only because of Prince William’s comment to an inquisitive citizen.
While the Duchess of Sussex has been out of the public eye, Prince Harry has still been making appearances — he was spotted with Kate Middleton at an event on Thursday. On Sunday, according to the Daily Mail, he was at the London Marathon, where he met with participants and awarded medals to the racers. It seems unlikely that he’d be attending athletic events so soon after the birth of his first child. Still, we’re eagerly awaiting updates from any royal willing to provide them.
