35 Things on Sale You’ll Actually Want to Buy: From Madewell to Trademark

You may have noticed some posts from our friends at the Strategist on the Cut. They’ll be dropping in every now and again, sharing their expertise on the basics you don’t have time to research and the weird and wonderful things you don’t yet know you need.

A real summery selection of sale items below: from dresses to bathing suits to beach bags — plus a bunch of Father’s Day gifts thrown in for good measure.

Lots of happy reviewers; combing through reviews, we learned that it’s lighter than most grill pans and that it’s particularly good for panini and burgers (and leaves grill marks on them). Incidentally, for all you pan-heads, there’s a larger Calphalon sale at BB&B happening now.

It’s not pouring rain and our down jacket’s at the dry cleaners … can we buy a bathing suit yet? This polka-dotted two-piece suit from Solid & Striped is both cute and coy. (Here’s a link to the bottoms.)

Madewell’s classic Emmett wide-leg crops, but with a lightly graphic windowpane pattern.

They’d look great with these Dansko clogs that half of the Strategist team owns.

Speaking of comfortable shoes, we actually own these slip-on Naturalizer sneakers — and traveled around Portugal in them last summer — and can wholeheartedly say they did right by us.

$160

There’s a sale going on at Anthropologie where a whole slew of their best-selling dresses are half off — including this off-the-shoulder “Oahu” dress from Anthro’s new(ish) plus-size line.

A minty dress with tiny white flowers strewn about it.

Dip your toe in the culty world of Sunday Riley with this discounted gift set that includes the skin-care line’s famous Good Genes serum as well as a daily Ceramic Slip facial cleanser. Note: While it’s not hugely on sale, these two products together actually retail for $45.

An aptly named “Let’s Boogie” glitter-streaked eye shadow from MAC.

We probably would not choose to wear this daisy-adorned Free People dress with white boots — so put your hand over the screen and imagine them with, say, these strappy Everlane sandals.

They wouldn’t go with these Betsey Johnson sandals … but aren’t these Betsey Johnson sandals totally amazing?

An elegant swimsuit collab between Pendleton and Hurley.

Another Pendleton collaboration we quite like, this one with Mickey Mouse, and a bath towel. (There’s a more classic Pendleton beach towels on sale at Urban Outfitters too as part of their summer sale.)

Not the biggest discount in the world, but a discount on a status water bottle nonetheless.

Two things that the young folk love: Champion and pool slides.

To put it bluntly: This does not look like a $30 stool.

An easel that can toggle between being a chalkboard and a dry-erase board and can also hold a regular old paper roll. The legs are adjustable for your growing Van Goghs.

A really lovely linen shirt from Lord & Taylor’s house line.

Some slip-on Soludos made with pebbled leather.

This henley, from Levi’s more high-end Made & Crafted line, would make a nice Father’s Day gift.

So would these house pants from Save Khaki (that are available in a bunch of muted colors).

This large Trademark tote would make a nice beach bag.

What is more delightful than a bubble-gum pink cross-body bag?

A lightweight striped sweater from Eileen Fisher that hangs very nicely.

Be the “mysterious woman in the red dress” at all your summer weddings.

This cotton Current/Elliott dress with twisted straps is the type of thing you can pretty much wear every single weekend — and probably no one would notice.

Whether you have a house in the Catskills or you just want your tiny studio apartment to smell like a house in the Catskills, might we recommend this incense set that’s meant to smell like the “woody, earth tones of the Australian Bush.”

We’ve heard good things about H&M’s bedding. Dip your toe into this strange new world with this handsome pillowcase.

Just a ruffled baby sunhat here for five dollars.

This lightweight summer-appropriate quilt from Laura Ashley is reversible.

A slightly funkier cactus than your standard succulent fare.

This briefcase doubles as a backpack.

As the photo suggests, this two-tiered side table from Target (say that ten times fast) is good for displaying your plants and magazines.

Today (Friday) only, one of the best reviewed short-thow projectors (meaning you can place it right under whatever surface upon which you want to project) is on sale.

The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments, rolling luggage, pillows for side sleepers, natural anxiety remedies, and bath towels. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
