As Lady Gaga proved last night, there’s nothing campier than multiple outfit changes. And while nobody quite one-upped the Champagne wagon she wheeled onto the Met Gala 2019 red carpet, almost everybody changed into more dancing-friendly outfits for the after-parties.
Gucci somehow managed to get celebrities into the Hunter College gymnasium, like the most stylish seventh-grade dance you’ve ever imagined. Ryan Murphy hosted the cast of Pose and many voguing dancers at Hudson Yards. Serena Williams, Kim Kardashian West, Travis Scott, La La Anthony, and Trevor Noah hosted their party at Up & Down, which was where Rihanna threw a party last year. There was also a party at The Standard Hotel’s Boom Boom Room (a classic Met Gala after party spot.) Many celebs hopped from one party to another until the early hours of the morning, but Anna Wintour was not spotted among them — by the cameras, at least. We hope she got some sleep after pulling off a very fun-to-look-at Met Gala.
Kim Kardashian West changed from one Thierry Mugler look into another Thierry Mugler look (she’s been wearing lots of archival Mugler lately, along with Cardi B.) Harry Styles put on a red bow tie instead of his subtly camp black blouse. Katy Perry arrived at the Gala dressed as a chandelier, but quickly changed into a hamburger costume, which she kept on for the rest of the night. Evidently, a hamburger costume is easier to maneuver than a full chandelier ensemble. Anyway, how was your Monday night?
