34 Things on Sale You’ll Actually Want to Buy: From Levi’s to Birkenstock

You may have noticed some posts from our friends at the Strategist on the Cut. They’ll be dropping in every now and again, sharing their expertise on the basics you don’t have time to research and the weird and wonderful things you don’t yet know you need.

For this week’s sales roundup, we double-dipped into some sales we’ve already covered to find even more discounted gems, including lots of items in the 60 to 80 percent off department.

The Moda Operandi, Matches, and Net-a-Porter sales are the sales that keep on giving — in that we keep finding little (extremely discounted) gems in there. Case in point, this Solid & Striped one-piece that was just added to Moda’s sale.

Believe it or not, $39 is a very good price for a Smythson notebook. This would make a nice gift for a high-school grad.

A Sensi straw bag that’s actually quite sensible (in that you can fit work stuff in it).

A little less sensible: This lime-green silk hair bow-barrette.

Now, a few things we missed from the Matches Fashion sale that would make good Father’s Day gifts. First up: a polka-dotted Alexander McQueen tie.

If Dad’s taste runs a little more … Prada.

And if his ratty, pit-stained white tee could use an upgrade.

A very dapper keyring from British brand Dunhill for a very dapper dad.

And finally, a couple shoes we missed from the Net-a-Porter sale: these pastel-blue and neon-orange Nike Air Maxes.

These See by Chloe espadrilles (that feature a comfortable rubber sole) were made exclusively for Net-a-Porter.

For something a little less highfalutin, how about this little linen Tommy Bahama number? (It’s on sale as part of a Lord & Taylor Friends & Family promotion at Walmart.)

Throw in this three-pack of Gold Toe socks while you’re at it.

This handsome planter is from Walmart’s newish homewares line, Modrn.

Amazon’s “Summer Essentials” sale includes a ton of their house swimsuit lines — most aren’t quite our style, but this simple black bikini top (which you can pair with these bottoms) is retro and flattering.

And we’d be doing a disservice if we did not note that today (Friday) only, 72-packs of donut-flavored Keurig pods are on sale.

There’s a sweeping “clothing sale” at Anthropologie wherein all clothes (including new arrivals) are 20 percent off. (The discount is applied at checkout.) This means it’s a good time to pick up stuff that rarely goes on sale, like Levi’s ever-popular wedgie jean.

Meanwhile, over at Macy’s, on-sale beauty products are an extra 15 percent off with the code “FRIEND.” Which means this “Born to Run” (whatever that means) eyeshadow palette is half off.

These Birkenstock Kairo sandals are technically for men, but there are lots of small sizes (that would work for women) left. Shipping is free if you spend over $150 (so pick up a pair for your best friend), and it costs about $10 otherwise.

Unlike most slouchy overalls, these linen ones from Eileen Fisher won’t make you look like a toddler.

This backpack is super lightweight (for those who are doing lots of schlepping around town).

At Urban Outfitters, a few of their “favorite brands” are on sale. Like this Lisa Says Gah fruit-adorned crop top. (Wear this to a picnic!)

We’ve written about this frock in sales posts before — when it was $60. Now it’s even cheaper.

The sandal of the summer — in a pleasing shade of teal.

There’s a dress sale going on at Target and we like the styling suggestion from a reviewer of this canary-yellow number from Who What Wear: “I dressed it down with tennis shoe mules and wore my hair in a messy bun with lemon earrings.”

For those looking to show a little more leg, there’s this little black shirt-dress that’s also available in cream.

A stretchy pair of lightweight overalls from Madewell that go up to size 3X.

This is a very good price for these Rachel Comey hoops.

Same deal with this simple Sophia Buhai necklace.

And if you’ve ever thought about splurging on a Mansur Gavriel tote, now would be the time.

All sale items at La Garconne are an extra 20 percent off, and as we noted the other day, summer is a good time to buy designer rain boots.

These classic Repetto pumps pretty much go with anything.

This multi-purpose balm (people wear it on their lips, on their cheeks) rarely goes on sale, let alone a sale-on-sale. Casey Wilson is a fan.
