You may have noticed some posts from our friends at the Strategist on the Cut. They’ll be dropping in every now and again, sharing their expertise on the basics you don’t have time to research and the weird and wonderful things you don’t yet know you need.

This week’s edition of our Friday Sales roundup is a bit of a beast — that’s because the pre–Fourth of July deals are already upon us, and there were too many good things to choose from. Below, the dresses, jumpsuits (lots of jumpsuits), and narwhal pool floats we dug up.

A flouncy summer dress from Free People that’s made from a linen-rayon blend.

Another discounted Free People number: a very ’90s ribbed tank top (available in a bunch of colors) that clearly looks great with a puka shell necklace.

A stark white duvet cover paired with these (70 percent off) teal Pendleton shams is a great bedroom look.

It works out to about eight bucks a pan here.

This right here is one the best sunscreens, according to dermatologists. (While the original price isn’t listed on the Walmart site, we know that it usually goes for $28; it’s not a huge discount, but a discount nonetheless, and shipping’s free.)

These Tabitha Simmons flats feature just the perfect amount of slime green.

A sweatshirt-material jumpsuit that we can imagine both sleeping in and padding around the neighborhood in.

This travel backpack from Tumi is the brand’s most lightweight offering.

Don’t quote us on this, but we think this the cheapest we’ve ever seen a Cult Gaia bag.

In addition to this calming purple, the tee also comes in a soft peach color.

Some Billy Reid shorts made from “supremely soft” pima cotton.

This watch, a collaboration between Timex and Todd Snyder, nods to “roulette wheels and automotive speed dials.” It’s also on sale in a silver-and-green version.

This jumpsuit is playful (the smocked top, the bow sleeves) without being too over-the-top cutesy.

This North Face wallet features a handy key ring. (It’s also available in a darker blue.)

A bold water- and wind-repellent pullover that’s perfect for summer adventuring.

These white jeans … are actually Spanx!

An extremely cute way to let your baby float around the pool.

Sale items at Matches (where stuff is already on super-sale) are an extra 10 percent off for a limited time, like this extremely handsome bucket bag from Sophie Hulme.

A nice riff on the Skirt of the Summer from Sea. (There’s also a short-sleeved dress and a long-sleeved dress in the same leopard pattern.)

These A.P.C. wedges look really really good with cropped pants.

This very controversial bikini is (understandably) on sale. It’s also available in a green and a darker red.

This, from Lisa Marie Fernandez, is a less controversial option.

There is something so classy about this square-neck bikini top (that’s also available in red and dark green.) These are the matching bottoms.

A striped shirt from British basics line Oliver Spencer.

This cotton-linen dress from Alexis has some coy cutouts and kicky white buttons.

Just a classic (70 percent off) denim skirt from Ganni.

We have a hard time resisting anything bow-related.

These espadrilles are a little more fashion than your classic espadrilles.

Courtney Love is a fan of this boutique perfumer, and we rarely see their stuff on sale.

A matte — but not too matte — lipstick from Stila in a classic dark-pinkish shade.

How nice is this Reebok hoodie?

Just a really nice white T-shirt (with a particularly nice neckline) from Vince.

This hoodie is from Champion’s delightful collaboration with Susan Alexandra.

These Dr. Scholl’s pool slides are fabulous — and are also available in white and orange.

Everything on sale at Anthropologie is an extra 30 percent off, which makes this comfortable, slouchy jumpsuit an excellent deal.

If you hang it high enough, few people will know that these string of pearls are fake.

These “On the Fly” pants from Lululemon are meant for traveling — they have a sort of Jane Goodall-ian quality about them.

Over at Madewell, select “summer styles” are 25 percent off with the code “firework.” We are particularly enamored with this coverall romper.

We also have similar fond feelings toward this denim jumpsuit.

Some incredible Juicy Couture slip-on sneakers.

These mint-green ’80s-inspired Adidas sneakers have a similar “profile” to the Veja.

For all you outdoorsy types, this Fjallraven rolltop backpack is billed as a good “sidekick through a tree-covered day hike.”

In other bag news, in our roundup of the best things from REI’s July 4th sale, we missed this Patagonia messenger bag.

Since last we checked on the & Other Stories sale, a few new things were added: Among them this linen dress with a relaxed, ruched sweetheart neckline.

This classic planter is discounted as part of a larger Rivet (one of Amazon’s homeware lines) sale.

The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments, rolling luggage, pillows for side sleepers, natural anxiety remedies, and bath towels. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
