Last September, fashion designer Michael Kors told buyers and editors that if he ever decided to retire from fashion, he’d open a bunch of beach clubs at popular resorts around the world, from Malibu to Australia. With his ever-present tan, it’s not hard to imagine him as king of the sandcastle — but he’d probably have to stop wearing all black every day.
Perhaps Kors was dreaming of future outfits when he designed his Spring 2019 collection, which was covered in colorful florals, surf motifs, and even an underwater print — the first of his career. Pieces like the brocade sunhat and fringed bag (pictured above) made the collection one of the brightest and happiest of New York Fashion Week last season. You might even say it embodied the spirit of Leonardo DiCaprio aggressively enjoying summer. And nobody does summer like Leo.
