Stitch Fix, the online personal styling service that sends you clothing to try at home based on your style and price range, has collaborated with body-positivity advocate Katie Sturino for a size-inclusive and affordable summer line.
Sturino is known for the hashtags #MakeMySize and #SuperSizeTheLook, where she calls out brands for not catering to all women and posts pictures side by side with models and celebrities, mimicking their designer outfits. Most recently, she copied Kendall Jenner’s Aperol Spritz-inspired dress with the caption, “Two body types, both rocking a body con dress and looking cute!” She’s determined to increase access to stylish clothing for all women, and she hopes her new collaboration will help.
Launched June 25, the 21-piece collection spans sizes 0-24 and XS-3X and was inspired by clothes Sturino would want to wear in Southern Italy. In fact, she’ll be flaunting her designs there during her honeymoon this July.
Sturino knew the challenges women face when buying clothes for warmer weather. She focused on finding fabrics that breathe, and the Stitch Fix team conducted multiple fittings for each piece to tweak the fit, making sure they looked good in every size on every woman. For Sturino, offering all sizes was the only option. “I don’t want to keep creating this divide,” she said.
Each piece costs under $100 and is based off Katie’s personal style, which she describes as colorful, happy, a little Italian, and a little cartoonish. “It’s a woman on vacation, or on the verge of vacation, at all times,” she says. “Every single piece of clothing, I want to wear.” The collection features wrap dresses, breezy caftans, and even a rainbow-striped button down, with no black or grey in sight.
