30 Things on Sale You’ll Actually Want to Buy: From Fjällräven to J.Crew

You may have noticed some posts from our friends at the Strategist on the Cut. They’ll be dropping in every now and again, sharing their expertise on the basics you don’t have time to research and the weird and wonderful things you don’t yet know you need.

This week’s dive into the best of the internet’s sales bins includes various leopard-print bags, a Strategist-approved mattress, and a zippy shower curtain from Marimekko.

These come courtesy of Sidewalk, Madewell’s line of sneakers that have a Vans-like look but are apparently more comfortable thanks to their MWL Cloudlift insoles.

There’s a sale at Coach where items up to $400 are 20 percent off while items $400 and over are 30 percent off. This super-simple cross-body bag (this style is on sale somewhat regularly, but very rarely in black) is a good thing to pick up.

The “bead chain” trim is a nice touch.

A classic, Dieter Rams–designed alarm clock from Braun.

As we noted the other day, Shopbop is having quite the sale, where pretty much everything under $500 is 20 percent off, and everything over $500 is 25 percent off. We highlighted a different pair of Levi’s earlier today, but wanted to note that these “low stretch” Wedgie jeans from Levi’s are also 20 percent off. Note: The sale ends today (Friday).

These classic white Supergas would look great with the aforementioned jeans.

A leopard-print Baggu is a safe way to experiment with leopard print.

If you’ve been meaning to jump on the Fjällräven train … now’s a good time.

If you’re willing to spend a little more, that’s where the real deals come in: For instance, this incredibly warm and stylish Woolrich parka is $213 cheaper than usual.

We rounded up the deals yesterday from Shopbop’s brother site, East Dane (the same type of sale is going on), and just wanted to call out this Filson tote as being a particularly great deal.

Allswell is Walmart’s in-house upscale mattress line (we’ve slept on an Allswell, and liked it). Right now the Luxe Hybrid mattress (it’s called a hybrid because it’s made from a mix of foam and charcoal) is on sale as part of a “home faves” sale over at Walmart.

A bright-red tea kettle (kept out on the stove) is a nice way to gussy up a kitchen.

Strategist favorite Baby Foot (read Molly Young’s ode to this bizarre and amazing product) is on sale as part of Ulta’s Faul Haul event.

All of your everyday facial powder needs (several shades of blush, eyeshadow, and bronzer) in one snazzy palette, courtesy of Nars.

A very basic (and yet elegant in its basic-ness) pair of Nike running shoes.

A festive shower curtain courtesy of Marimekko.

A cozy Pendleton throw for the cozy season ahead.

The second leopard-print bag of our roundup, this one from Clare V. (Note: All sale items at Anthro are an extra 30 percent off, and discounts are applied at checkout.)

This hand-embroidered wall hanging would look nice on a bedroom wall, or in a kid’s room.

A very autumnal maxi dress from Anthro Plus.

Breaking sale news: We just learned that Anthropologie is having a 48-hour “flash sale,” where a wide selection of furniture is up to 30 percent off. This dining chair is modern, minimalist, and a lot more expensive-looking than it is.

We like that this J. Crew denim boilersuit has a tie at the waist (for when you’d rather not direct attention to that particular area).

A marled cotton sweater that (a) you won’t overheat in, and (b) you can machine wash.

These seamless briefs from Chantelle are supposedly extremely comfortable.

Today (Friday) only, a whole bunch of Lands’ End clothes for men, women, and kids are on sale at Amazon, like this women’s zip-up fleece-slash-sweater.

A real “casual Fridays” sweater right here.

Tacking this Urban Decay palette at the end, because it will surely sell out soon.

The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments, rolling luggage, pillows for side sleepers, natural anxiety remedies, and bath towels. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
