I Wished I Looked This Cool While Waiting for an Uber

In one image from Fenty’s latest campaign, a model dressed in a slip dress, stiletto boots, and a fluffy coat sits cross-legged on a ledge, her expression familiar to any women who has waited on an Uber to the city, waiting for the night to begin.

The campaign teases the release of Rihanna’s line’s latest collection, which is called “R11-19:City Bloom,” and all of the clothes play with the contrast of softness versus strength in one way or another. Statement outerwear pieces, like an oversize white wool-blend parka and cream shearling biker jacket, present a tough exterior, but they’re layered over lingerie-style dresses and feminine skirts in a romantic palette of matcha, rose, and creams.

Captured by Japanese photographer Katsu Naito, who is known for his coverage of ’90s Harlem, the campaign feels like a snapshot of the hectic life of a modern, well-dressed woman. “The FENTY release 11-19 woman doesn’t overthink it; she dresses almost in haste, throwing a big coat over whatever she has on underneath,” the brand said in a press release.

The images also feature jewelry pieces from the Cameo collection, most strikingly a pair of large oval earrings ornamented with Swarovski crystals. R11-19: City Bloom launches November 12 online at fenty.com and at Selfridges locations from November 25. See all the photos from the campaign below.
