“Christmas” was spelled with two interlocking C’s last night as Chanel hosted a party to debut “Chanel No. 5 in the Snow,” its new holiday destination in New York City. The brand transformed The Standard Hotel’s seasonal outdoor ice-skating rink into a quaint holiday village decorated with evergreen trees, twinkling lights, and Chanel ornaments. Like the name suggests, it was all to celebrate the iconic No. 5 fragrance; party guests were greeted with a larger-than-life replica of a bottle upon entrance.
This winter wonderland had hot chocolate and cider (with an option for spiking) and endless photo opportunities (the most popular being the ginormous No. 5 bottle and the Chanel sleigh, of course). It was too rainy to skate, but that didn’t stop Lily-Rose Depp from imagining what life would be like if skating was her career. “I’d wear a baby blue or pink classic ’90s figure skater outfit,” Depp told the Cut. “And I’d perform to ‘Wuthering Heights’ by Kate Bush.”
As everyone shook off the cold outside, things were heating up inside the hotel’s Biergarten, which transported guests to a ski lodge setting. Partygoers gathered around tables decorated with mistletoe centerpieces, drinking Kir Royales while eating fondue, truffle burgers, apple pastries, and fries. But the main event was a literal heart-thumping performance by K-Pop boy group Monsta X, who hit every move of choreography with precision. A group of superfans sang along to every word.
The fun didn’t stop for hours as celebrities in head-to-toe Chanel like Kacey Musgraves, Soo Joo Park, Diane Kruger, Grace VanderWaal, DJ Kitty Cash, and Talita Von Furstenberg ate, drank, and mingled. “I like these kinds of things,” Musgraves told the Cut. “They’re a lot of fun.” See some of the fun in the photos from Chanel’s party below.
