If I did not already own a pair of Agmes earrings, I would be asking for them. The sisters behind Agmes use recycled metals to make earrings that look more like sculptures. The silver blobs at the Yayoi Kusama exhibit at David Zwirner look very similar to the pair that I’m currently wearing. I wear them pretty much every day and love how they can turn a pair of jeans and a turtleneck into a considered outfit.
I also love how the brand uses recycled metals and minimizes waste in its process. The sterling silver bobs below are relatively simple, so you don’t have to worry about alienating your recipient with an overwhelming piece of jewelry. But they’re high quality and have a nice weight to them that makes them feel significant.
Jewelry is an ideal gift because it strikes a balance between being practical and being special. You can wear it every day, it’s easy to personalize to people’s taste, and you can find jewelry for any budget. Sometimes, jewelry can seem like a loaded gift (my boyfriend was mildly horrified when I asked for a ring for Christmas last year) or a big investment (if it’s the Cartier love bracelet). But it doesn’t have to be, especially if you go with something funky and wearable like these. Hell, maybe I’ll ask for another pair this year.
