The Biggest, Sparkliest, Most Major Jewelry From the 2020 Golden Globes
The clothes are undoubtedly the biggest part of the red carpet. But the jewelry is to an outfit what dessert is to a five-star meal: We show up for the dresses and suits, but the jewels are what surprise and delight us. At the 2020 Golden Globes awards last night, there was plenty to ogle.
Jennifer Aniston looked like pure Hollywood royalty in a vintage Cartier necklace from the 1950s, courtesy of Fred Leighton, along with two Art Deco rings. Olivia Colman, who won Best Actress in a TV Drama Series for The Crown, chose a political statement along with diamonds. One of her three rings read, “50/50, Equal Representation for Actresses.” (Remember the Golden Globes when everyone wore a political statement on the red carpet?) Gwyneth Paltrow wore her Bulgari diamonds inside her sheer dress, and Natasha Lyonne matched her black nails to four massive black cocktail rings.
Undoubtedly the best jewelry look, however, was Cynthia Erivo’s combined $5 million worth of jewels, on top of a beaded dress from Thom Browne. The centerpiece of her choker was a 40-carat sapphire cabochon (jewelry lingo for a polished gem that isn’t faceted), surrounded by 56.65 carats of diamonds and sapphires. It’s valued at over $3 million. She also wore three rings and an earful of earrings. See some of our other favorites below.
