Turns out, St. Vincent likes athleisure just as much as the rest of us. On Thursday, the singer announced a new collaboration with Outdoor Voices, the activewear brand beloved by millennials.
“It may come as a shock to some, but team sports and exercise have been a massive part of my life since I was young,” St. Vincent wrote on Instagram. “I have tried every manner of exercise clothes and never found the perfect fit or design. So when OV, A Texas-based, female-founded-and-run-company, approached me about collaborating, I was thrilled!”
As St. Vincent acknowledges, it’s a somewhat unexpected pairing; she’s not exactly the type to walk around in public wearing matching workout sets. Called STV.OV, the seven-piece collection comprises a reversible bralette, leggings, sweatshirt, and sweatpants, in colors like olive and navy — which is to say, it doesn’t look all that different from the athleisure brand’s typical offerings, aside from a new multi-weather trench coat.
“St. Vincent, the multi-faceted artist behind this collection, embodies everything that gets us moving — a creative spirit, endorphin-heavy days, and personal spunk that shines in her music,” reads the brand’s website. “The STV.OV collection is a system that works together as a whole.” Alongside the collection, Outdoor Voices also released a retro-futuristic campaign video featuring St. Vincent, who served as its creative director.
The collection comes at a tumultuous time for the company. Just two days ago, Outdoor Voice’s 31-year-old founder and CEO, Tyler “Ty” Haney, announced that she was resigning from the company after Business of Fashion reported that she was effectively forced to assume a lesser title. Nevertheless, ever since the collection’s drop this morning, Haney has been posting it prolifically on Instagram.
