How do you say “zine” in French? Un petit magazine? Someone on Rachel Comey’s team is going to have to figure it out. Not only did the New York–based designer bring her store to Paris this month with a pop-up in the Marais neighborhood, but she also brought a little piece of Soho with her in the form of un zine.
Yes, if you visit Comey’s new Paris outpost, you can find a free — gratuit!— zine featuring essays by Zadie Smith and Sheila Heti, as well as photographs of friends wearing the brand, taken by Comey herself. This is the brand’s first entrée into Europe in advance of its 20th anniversary next year, so Parisians will be introduced to the brand’s signatures like high-waisted flare pants, jumpsuits, and clogs. The Marais pop-up, which will be open through March 18, also features an art exhibition by by Berlin–based tapestry artist Ketuta Alexi-Meskhishvili.
