Blackpink’s Lisa Has a New Job

Blackpink’s Lisa (Lalisa Manoban) is one of the brightest lights in K-pop. At 14, the Thailand-born Manoban became the first non-Korean trainee at Blackpink’s label, YG Entertainment. She’s now Blackpink’s rapper and lead dancer — and today, MAC announced that she’ll be their new global ambassador.

Blackpink is currently the world’s biggest girl group. Their videos rack up millions of views thanks to their fans, known as Blinks (in fact, “Boomboyah” recently reached one billion.) Blinks also use their online power to help fight racism. In May, they trolled white supremacists by flooding Twitter with fancams (videos of their favorite Blackpink members, including Lisa). The fandom will surely approve of Lisa’s new job, given MAC’s history of believing that beauty comes in all shades, genders, and ages.

In a press release, Lisa said: “I have always been a big fan of M·A·C! I like how the brand turns makeup into a form of self-expression, which always gives me great confidence on stage. Together with M·A·C, I am excited to invite and empower more audiences as we both have individuality and diversity at our core.”

No word on whether there will be specific Lisa-created collections, but the brand says that she will be the face of campaigns and a muse. In her first official MAC photo posted to Instagram, she promotes the brand’s Powder Kiss lipstick in Mull It Over.
