Normally, this would be the high season for black tights. You’d be wearing them to office holiday parties and nice family dinners and nights out at hometown bars where you want to impress your 9th-grade crush. Black tights are like the Batsuit of hosiery — they allow us to believe that we are impervious to winter, that a little cold can’t stop us from having fun and looking hot.
But sadly, things are different this year. Black tights are perhaps the most neglected fashion item in our closets. Which is why I wasn’t surprised to receive a late-night drunk text from my own ex-favorite pair over the holidays. I have to say, I felt kind of bad … but not enough to take them back.
