Kim Kardashian has officially filed for divorce from Kanye West, TMZ reports. Kim apparently filed the paperwork on Friday, several weeks after tabloids reported that she had retained prominent divorce attorney Laura Wasser to help negotiate the settlement.

Sources tell TMZ the divorce is amicable, that the couple are seeking joint legal and physical custody of their four children, and that neither are contesting the terms of their prenup.

Kim and Kanye first started dating back in 2012, when Kim was still legally married to basketball player Kris Humphries. The two welcomed their first child, North, in 2013 and were married in a lavish ceremony in France in 2014.

Kanye’s presidential run in 2020, and his erratic campaign speeches, reportedly took its toll on the couple, and TMZ reports that they have been living apart for the past several months. According to Us Weekly, the pair had a major fight in December that was the final straw. “Kanye blew up at Kim and she was really upset,” a source said. “Things between them don’t seem to have healed since that.”

In a very Kardashian move, the family has apparently decided to make the disintegration of Kim and Kanye’s marriage a central plotline in the upcoming and final season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. A source told Us Weekly in January that Kanye was “less than thrilled” about this and that he did not participate in the show’s “emotional final episode.”

No word yet on what will happen to the couple’s 14 gorgeous Friesian horses.
