I Mean, I’d Wear Megan Fox’s DNA

That MGK — aka Colson Baker, aka Machine Gun Kelly — and his steady girlfriend Megan Fox have something of a unique relationship is not surprising. They’re both famously hot and famously edgy, and line with this hot-and-edgy vibe, it’s not a huge shock to find that the actor-singer wears a small glass orb with a drop of his girlfriend’s blood around his neck:

After all, they’re building on a history of other hot-and-edgy celebrity couples who wear their partner’s DNA as a gesture of love. Most famously, Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton wore vials of each other’s blood around their necks during their brief marriage in the early 2000s.

This week, Machine Gun Kelly shared the romantic origins of Fox’s gift to him on Ellen, any air of morbidity dispelled by the star-spangled set of pink-satin pajamas he wore to the interview. Apparently, the necklace was a gift from early in his relationship with Fox, which she gave to him when she had been sent abroad to film a movie at a time when he didn’t have a passport.

“She was going out to Bulgaria, so I was kind of freaking out, like, You’re gonna leave and I can’t even come see you …” he explained, pulling the piece of jewelry out of his pocket and showing it to the audience. “Some people give, like, a handkerchief to their partner or whatever. She gave me her DNA,” he concluded, recognizing us ladies who gift their young men scented, embroidered handkerchiefs when they go off to sea.

In any case, it’s sort of sweet, vaguely metal, and somehow less foul than the gold-dipped wisdom-tooth necklaces Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham have exchanged.
