Summer is a sensual season. If I asked you to conjure an image of it in your mind, you might feel a light sunburn on your cheeks, smell hot pavement and sea water in your nose, and taste a watermelon popsicle on your tongue. Bottega Veneta designer Daniel Lee understands this. He designed a spring 2021 collection that was all about touch, using especially tactile materials like seashells, bumpy weaves, and smooth leather. Of course, this came at a time when touching another person was a luxury, and so clothes and accessories became our most provocative companions. Even if you aren’t traveling to the beach this summer, just rub your hands along a seashell bag, or slide your bare feet into the wedge mules above, and you’ll feel like you’re there.
