What do the Über-wealthy spend their money on? Gratuitous trips to space? A woman to take to the moon? Yachts that come with their own yacht? Anything except their taxes? Well, newly minted billionaire Rihanna went on a little shopping date with her boyfriend, A$AP Rocky, giving us some insight into what big money can buy you.
Per “Page Six,” the couple was seen at Hat Club in Noho, where they bought a hat for A$AP Rocky. Huh, a snapback! A completely reasonable purchase! Then the two were spotted shopping at Forbidden Planet, which sells comic books, sci-fi books, action figures, and other collectibles. According to the tabloid, one of Rihanna’s security guards appeared to be carrying five bags of purchases from the shop. Okay, five bags is a little more of that Billionaire Flavor I was looking for. But again, Forbidden Planet is very much a normal-people store. Finally, RiRi and Rocky ate outside at Wo Hop in Chinatown. What a cute, surprising regular date!
So to recap: Rihanna, who is worth an estimated $1.7 billion, bought some hats, comic books, and perhaps a couple of keychains and ate Chinese food. Billionaires — they’re just like us! (Except with enough money to buy a private jet, multiple Ferraris, and the literal White House and still have money to spare.) When asked how it felt to be the “richest female musician,” Rihanna told paparazzi, “God is good.” Also, being extremely wealthy: I’m sure that feels pretty good too.
