On Sunday, November 28, it was announced that Off-White founder and artistic director of Louis Vuitton menswear Virgil Abloh died after a long battle with cancer. And, as soon as the news went public, fans and friends of all kinds started sending their condolences, including many celebrity tweets paying tribute to the trailblazing designer.

The news came as a shock to many, as the Instagram post announcing the news on Abloh’s official account revealed that the designer had been privately fighting cardiac angiosarcoma. “He chose to endure his battle privately since his diagnosis in 2019,” reads the post in part, “undergoing numerous challenging treatments, all while helming several significant institutions that span fashion, art, and culture.”

In addition to his work as a designer, Abloh was also well-known for his collaborations and relationships with celebrities like Kanye West, Bella Hadid, and Serena Williams, to name a few, and many have spoken out to remember the designer. Hours after the news broke, West reportedly dedicated his Sunday Service to Abloh, ending the livestream event with a title card that read, “In loving memory of Virgil Abloh, the creative director of Donda.” And many other celebrities and friends of the designer paid tribute on Twitter and Instagram.
