Britney Spears Is Doing Skits Now

I don’t know what I thought Britney would do after the end of her conservatorship, but I imagined significantly less skits. And yet, that’s what the singer/actor/free woman is doing. She’s going back to her MMC (Mickey Mouse Club) days, creating a new subgenre of Britney Spears Instagram skits.

Spears has always been known to post fun videos, mostly featuring free-form dance breaks and spontaneous fashion shows. But lately, she’s been posting short skits that seem to be completely self-produced. Earlier in the week, it was a sketch about working pre-, mid-, and post-pandemic. And on Thursday, she posted another skit, this time inspired by her experiences with therapy.

In the skit, Britney plays both an overbearing therapist and an unamused patient. “I’m here to help you — key number one,” she says at one point, looking into the camera. “So relax, totally relax, lay down, do what you have to do. Just a couple of questions, don’t worry about it. Everything’s going to be fine.”

In the caption, Spears said that, after “being forced to pay and listen to women telling me how they are going to further my success,” she had decided to “dedicate my life to skits to the wonderful therapist.” In the video, the patient insists, “Yes, I’m feeling fine. I had a great year,” only for the therapist to respond, “I think we need to figure some things out.”

Spears ends the video with an NSFW outcry, something she wrote was “me celebrating.” The pop star added, “It’s clearly OVER because my medication is working ’Murica!!!!!” (Spears previously mentioned that she was “on the right medication” in a separate Instagram post celebrating her newfound freedom.)

Leave it to Britney to earn her freedom one month and embark on a brand-new career as an Instagram actor the next.
