Did you quit your job during the pandemic to focus on your mental health and find more fulfilling work? If so, Prince Harry wants you to know he’s proud of you. The former royal and current California resident praised the recent increase in people leaving their jobs — what has become known as the “Great Resignation,” calling it “something to be celebrated.”

Speaking about his involvement with the coaching firm BetterUp, Harry told Fast Company that he thinks the current wave of resignations is “a sign that with self-awareness comes the need for change.” He continued, “many people around the world have been stuck in jobs that didn’t bring them joy, and now they’re putting their mental health and happiness first.” OK, can you tell that to my dad, though?

Through his position as Chief Impact Officer at BetterUp, the Duke of Sussex hopes to promote “mental fitness” in the workplace, an extension of the work he’s done promoting mental health for years. “We’re just at the beginning of the mental health awakening. This work has never been more important because people are finally paying attention,” he said.

So, next time your nosy neighbor or extended family member asks you why you quit your job, just tell them, “Prince Harry told me to.” You can’t argue with royalty.
