19 Things on Sale You’ll Actually Want to Buy: From Aesop to Crocs

You may have noticed some posts from our friends at the Strategist on the Cut. They’ll be dropping in every now and again, sharing their expertise on the basics you don’t have time to research and the weird and wonderful things you don’t yet know you need.

As we head into the long weekend, we found lots of actually good discounts on several Strategist favorites (many of which, might we add, would make thoughtful Valentine’s Day gifts). There’s a portable speaker for bike rides and park hangs, an easy-to-clean dog collar that’s rarely on sale, and some leakproof rain boots for the next midwinter downpour. And as always, if you want even more deals sent straight to your inbox, sign up for our email newsletter.

From $38

Now through January 21, style-forward dog brand Wild One is taking up to 40 percent off all best-sellers including its easy-to-clean all-weather collar. It’s on sale in a handful of colors including the light gray shown here.

The sale also includes several colorways of the brand’s cushioned dog harness. Strategist writer Chloe Anello — who owns just about everything from Wild One — appreciates that it has three different rings to hook a leash to, making it easier to adjust for different levels of pulling (and to loop through the leash hole in a dog coat).

When I messaged Anello about the Wild One sale this morning, she’d (naturally) already placed her order. “Wild One makes the best poop bags,” she wrote, “so I had to stock up.”

Lots of winter-ready styles are on sale at Zappos including our favorite leakproof rain boots from Hunter. (We recommend going up a half-size if you plan to wear them with extra-thick socks.)

If you’re more of a Crocs-and-socks person, here’s a pair of the company’s all-terrain clogs outfitted with a rugged outsole for extra traction.

Skinstore is taking up to 25 percent off its best-sellers with code NEWYEAR, including Strategist beauty columnist Rio Viera-Newton’s favorite blackhead-busting BHA serum.

You could also put that code toward this already discounted skin-care set from Aesop, which includes its Citrus Melange Body Cleanser, Rind Concentrate Body Balm, Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm, and the cult-favorite Resurrection Aromatique Hand Wash. It’d make a thoughtful (and practical) Valentine’s Day gift for the girlfriend who claims she doesn’t want anything.

Or grab these gunk-clearing pimple patches from Hero, a mainstay in Viera-Newton’s makeup bag.

Over at Madewell, select denim is just $75 with code REALDEAL through the weekend. You can’t go wrong with the Perfect Vintage Jean, which has a flattering high rise and a touch of stretch.

The brand is also taking an extra 30 percent off on-sale items — including these cozy, padded crew socks — with the same code.

Today only, you can snag this (originally $359) Kate Spade shoulder bag for under $90. Reviewers say it’s the perfect size for daily essentials.

In case you missed it, lots of end-of-season styles are half off over at Ganni including this seersucker scrunchie made with recycled fibers and organic cotton.

Wear it with this embroidered bra-top, also made from organic cotton.

If you’ve always wanted to try out Nordstrom’s best-selling leggings, select styles from the retailer’s in-house brand Zella are 20 percent off through Monday. They’re made from moisture-wicking fabric and fitted with a no-slip waistband.

When clipped onto his bike and played “at a non-obnoxious volume,” Strategist associate editor Louis Cheslaw says JBL’s ultraportable Clip 3 speaker adds a “cinematic element” to his rides. Because it’s waterproof, it can be enjoyed in the shower too.

And here’s an excellent deal on a well-reviewed Breville juicer for those who’ve resolved to amp up their fruit and vegetable intake this year.

From $10

If our friends at Vulture have convinced you to watch Succession or Search Party, HBO Max is offering 20 percent off monthly plans for new subscribers and lapsed customers until January 25.

A favorite of makeup artist Hannah Biddle, this gentle makeup remover from Lancôme “doesn’t sting or irritate the eyes” when removing stubborn eye makeup. Today only, it’s half off at Ulta.

Finally, you can take $150 off this touchscreen Microsoft laptop at Best Buy. With an all-day battery life and high-bandwidth RAM, it’s a smart choice for both streaming and studying.

The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments, rolling luggage, pillows for side sleepers, natural anxiety remedies, and bath towels. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
