Venus Williams has looked stunning at every red carpet promoting King Richard, the biography of her father and coach Richard Williams. The film is up for six Oscar nominations including Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actress, and along with walking the Oscars red carpet, she’s also a presenter this evening. Her makeup artist Karina Milan said that no matter what, “the goal is always for Venus to look her best.”

Pulling together a look is always collaborative Milan says, “We like to discuss our vision to ensure we’re on the same page and that the look is powerful and cohesive.” For the full breakdown of tonight’s look as well as everything she keeps in her kit to prep and keep her skin red-carpet ready, read on.

Skin Prep

“Having the right skin-care prep in your kit is critical. I always make sure to have a lightweight moisturizer that works well with makeup and an effective eye cream. Personally, I like using the Lancer Skincare Lancer Legacy Youth Treatment and the Lancer Legacy Eye Treatment Duo (Day) because they are lightweight, nourishing, and provide preventative skincare benefits.”

“For a final touch, I add the Dani Glowing Skin Perfector which has super fine reflective particles that photograph beautifully on the red carpet. I like to put them in the areas I would naturally highlight like the tops of the cheekbone, the decollate, and the shoulders.”

Get the Look

To get this ’60s-inspired eye look she used the now sold-out Flora Kalahari Palette and five-color palette in Dysco.

Milan paired the Tears in Rain mascara with the Technical Black Eyeliner and the Kajal Pencil in Kali Kali. She used the All-in-One Refillable Brow Pencil in Sepia to shape Venus’s brow.

For an extra glow, she used this bronzy metallic highlighter in the shade La Scène.

For her lips, she used Byredo’s lipstick in Worship her and added the shade Earth Dust in the center for dimension.

In Karina’s Kit

She also keeps a few other affordable favorites handy to prolong the wear of makeup. She recommends a mattifying primer for oily skin and names this all-in-one setting spray as one of her drugstore favorites.

“To lock the makeup in, one of the best setting powders is Danessa Myrick’s Evolution powder because of its range in color and fine texture.”

Another drugstore favorite, this multipurpose concealer you can also use to correct and contour.
