Every red carpet has a best hair moment, but what about the best baldie moment? Let us do the honors: Jada Pinkett Smith is the winner. (If her husband Will Smith wins tonight for Best Actor in King Richard, he’ll be the fifth Black man to ever win the award.)
Last summer, Jada went bald after publicly opening up about her alopecia journey and severe hair loss; she followed in her daughter’s steps, “Willow made me do it,” she wrote on Instagram. The look highlights her features even more than we ever thought possible. It hurts!
As if that weren’t enough, Jada rocked it with a slightly (okay, very) dramatic oversized Glenn Spiro diamond earrings, wispy eyelashes, and emerald waterline eyeliner to match her Jean Paul Gaultier haute couture by Glenn Martens voluminous dress. (The gown is from the spring 2022 collection.). I’m still trying to figure out how she’ll sit in the dress, but when you look this good I don’t think it really matters. Less is more simply doesn’t exist for Jada and drama looks great on her (and her baldie).
If my husband was in the running to make history, I would also show up looking this regal. A queen indeed who has influenced me to want to be bald. But, with her chiseled chin and her gorgeous features, it’s just fitting for her so I’ll just adore her majestic baldie from afar.
