Plus-size swimwear has long been a sleepy category full of floral tankinis and less-than-flattering swim skirts. To put it plainly: It’s been, well, plain. Everyone deserves options that make them feel confident and comfortable — nothing less.

If barely there, sexy options are your thing, you deserve them. If tankinis and cover-ups are what you’re coveting this summer, so be it. As long as it’s cute, why settle? Luckily, brands like Miaou, Girlfriend Collective, and even Skims create swimwear that is fun and sexy in sizes up to 6X.

To get you started, we’ve waded (sorry) through tons of swimwear brands to bring you the ones doing plus-size swimwear right. We looked for options with the best size ranges, support, and variety of styles to choose from. Of course, we considered prices, too.

Whether you want string bikinis, asymmetrical one-pieces, or something in between, here are plenty of options that will fit in your weekender bag.

Andie Swim

Andie’s swimwear is perfect for minimalists who want things simple — but not too simple. Case in point: This ribbed one-piece with crisscross straps is both comfy and chic. Most of the brand’s swimwear (including this piece) has light support and removable soft cups.
Available in sizes XXS to XXXL.

CUUP

If you’re a fan of this brand’s bras, you’ll love its swimwear, which has the same silhouettes in regenerated nylon. Think of how easy it will be to grab a new bikini top and bottom or one-piece suit when you already know the size and style you like. For the minimalist, there are a number of muted solid colors to choose from.
Available in sizes 30A to 44H.

Skims

Love it or hate it, Skims makes good swimwear. In true Kim Kardashian fashion, pieces are available in a variety of nude tones that wouldn’t look out of place at her Calabasas home, but you will find a few brighter shades too. Like most popular pieces from the brand, this one sells out fast.
Available in sizes XXS to 4X.

Eloquii

Eloquii is the go-to for plus-size clothes that are chic and not frumpy, like this cool neon cutout bikini. The brand offers lots of bright-colored swimwear with ruffles and ties. And cover-ups and sunglasses to match.
Available in sizes 14 to 28.

J.Crew

If you’ve been looking for something to wear under your linen sets this summer, J.Crew has it. The preppy brand offers items from string bikinis to long-sleeved rash guards, all in sizes up to 3X. You’ll find tamer patterns here, but they’re still cute nonetheless. And if you want to stand out, the company offers some vibrant colors too.
Available in sizes XXS to 3X.

Torrid

We get it: You hate underwire. Well, Torrid has high-coverage retro styles with padding and underwire and wireless options like this nylon blend in bright pink. Standard sizing goes up to 6 (6X), roughly the equivalent of DD.
Available in sizes 00 to 6X.

Target

Target is the go-to for cute and affordable swimwear, and plenty of the brands it offers are size inclusive. Its trendier in-house line Wild Fable has swim pieces that are colorful, fun, and as strappy or as covered up as you need them to be. Our pick is this bright-pink textured set with a tiny butterfly detail and light lining, but there are still many options to shop.
Available in sizes XXS to 3X.

ASOS

ASOS has a decent selection of affordable plus-size swimwear. And it’s all pretty cute. The only caveat is that — like those sneakers and lounge sets you’ve had your eye on — these items tend to sell out fast.
Available in sizes 00 to 28.

Miaou

Leave it to model and all-around stylish woman Paloma Elsesser to create and curate a seriously enviable collection of plus-size clothing — including swimwear. There are plenty of strappy separates to mix and match in an array of colorful patterns and prints. If these are anything like the brand’s best-selling corsets, they will not disappoint.
Available in sizes XS to 4XL.

Lushious

This brand from Atlanta de Cadenet Taylor offers some mix-and-match separates and one-piece suits that are anything but boring. The brand’s ethos is sustainability and inclusivity in both size and gender — with recycled pieces made for all body types and sizes. You can opt for string bikinis or shorts and layer them with one of the brand’s swim skirts — if you feel so inclined.
Available in sizes XS to 5X.

BOLD Swim

You can wear this string bikini in plenty of different, creative ways — as demonstrated by models on the brand’s site. If you’re into sustainability, you’ll be happy to know the swimwear is made from biodegradable fabrics.
Available in sizes S to 3XL.

Lane Bryant

More underwire here. Like we said before, it might not be ideal, but it’s a good option for support. Many swim pieces from Lane Bryant are lightly lined and feature adjustable straps. (There are lots of options without underwire as well.)
Available in sizes 14 to 28.

Parade

Like Cuup, this underwear brand has also expanded its silhouettes to swimwear. You’ll find classic shapes, one-pieces, cheeky or thong bikini bottoms, or high-rise briefs if you prefer more coverage. The smoothing one-pieces, like this cool cutout, double as a bodysuit. While patterns are pretty limited, as well as colors (such as orange, black, and maroon), the sizes aren’t.
Available in sizes XS to 3XL.

Spanx

You trust Spanx to make your shapewear, so why not your swimwear? The selection is limited to the basics, but what more do you need? The textured fabric smoothes all over and sits without digging into your shoulders, back, or legs.
Available in sizes XS to 3XL.

Good American

Yes, another Kardashian. Co-founded by Khloé and Emma Grede, Good American has gained tons of fans for its size-inclusive and curve-fitting denim. And now the brand has extended its sizing and curve-hugging silhouettes to swimwear. There are also compression options for smoothing and shaping.
Available in sizes XS to 5XL.
