It’s almost that time of the year again. We’re not talking about when everybody on your Instagram feed seems to have received the Italian summer memo (that’s already happening) but when you can’t escape what seems to be the biggest sale of the year — Amazon Prime Day.
Here’s everything we know.
When Is Amazon Prime Day 2022?
The Amazon reps have spoken, and they have announced that Amazon Prime Day 2022 will take place on July 12 and 13.
Who Can Shop During Amazon Prime Day?
As the name suggests, only Amazon Prime members have access to the majority of deals. If you don’t want to commit to a membership but still want to benefit from the discounts, you can sign up for a free 30-day trial and cancel as soon as your packages arrive at your doorstep, which is usually unethically fast.
What Do People Actually Purchase?
As a shopping editor who has covered this sale for 3-plus years now, I know that Cut readers prioritize buying beauty products and home products (linen sheets, to be exact). However, I never heard a close friend share that they’re looking forward to the sale or that they bought a product during Prime Day. (And the deals aren’t usually that good, tbh.) So I took it on myself to ask my Instagram and Twitter followers and colleagues about their Prime Day shopping habits (if any), and it turns out it’s a lot of gadgets and gizmos.
I received plenty of Instant Pot responses as well as Dysons and TVs. The more you know!
Will There Be Other Sales?
If you don’t want to give Bezos your money but still need to be mindful of your budget, there are a handful of other sites that offer discounts of their own during the same time period as Prime Day.
Merchant giants like Target have offered 30 percent off some of Apple’s best-selling products. Walmart has had major markdowns on cooking essentials. While DTC retailers like Our Place and Brooklinen have had surprise sales on their internet-famous products.
