Noah Schnapp Has a Very Important Doja Cat Update

The cast of Stranger Things is apparently all grown up and beefing with Doja Cat. Time flies! The seeds of this bizarre feud started last Thursday, when 17-year-old Noah Schnapp — who plays Will Byers in the Netflix series — posted DMs in which Doja asked to be set up with his co-star Joseph Quinn in a since-deleted TikTok. “Noah can you tell Joseph to hit me up. Wait, no, does he have a gf?” Doja wrote, to which Schnapp responded, “LMAOO slide into his DMs.” Doja replied that Quinn, who stars as lovable metalhead Eddie Munson on the show, “doesn’t have a DM to slide in” — possibly referring to the fact that Quinn, 29, has previously revealed that his Instagram account is managed by a friend, an undoubtedly awkward arrangement when it comes to receiving horny private messages. Schnapp nevertheless shared Quinn’s friend-managed Instagram with Doja, writing, “Right here ma’am.”

It’s not the first time Doja has vocalized her interest in Quinn, whom she has previously called “fine as shit” on Twitter. Still, in an Instagram Live, she expressed discomfort that Schnapp shared her messages without consent. “The fact that this person, that Noah did that … is so unbelievably socially unaware and wack,” Doja told viewers. “Like, that’s borderline snake shit. That’s, like, weasel shit.”

“I made an assumption that he was going to be chill about it and he went and shared information that I didn’t feel comfortable with him sharing,” Doja added. While some fans sided with Doja, others took issue with the fact that she reached out to a minor for matchmaking help in the first place, with one Twitter user writing, “She’s 26. He’s 17. Why was she comfy DMing him at all? … She could and should have stepped to that 29 yo directly.” For her part, Doja said in her Live, “Noah is a kid … when you’re that young, you make mistakes. You do dumb shit.”

Doja said during her Live that she had reached out to Schnapp directly, and now the actor has responded. A week after Doja publicly called him out, Schnapp made it clear that there are no hard feelings — at least not on his end. He shared a TikTok featuring Doja’s “Kiss Me More,” clarifying in the comments, “Guys everything is all good I apologized and I still follow her and love her music no hard feelings.” Doja has yet to respond, but considering reports that she’s been losing followers since this whole thing started (which could also be related to her now-deleted TikTok of her mimicking Amber Heard’s testimony). I’m sure she’ll be happy to know Schnapp, at least, has not abandoned her.

Meanwhile, Quinn, who has previously said his “exposure to social media has been minimal,” has not responded publicly. Let’s hope that means he remains blissfully unaware why “He’s 17,” “Doja,” and “Noah” were all trending.
