Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are expecting another baby. “The last few years have been a blur of emotions to say the least, but joy has filled our home and hearts again,” Teigen wrote in an Instagram announcement on Wednesday, recounting her recent experiences with IVF and sharing photos of her bump. “1 billion shots later … we have another on the way.”
Teigen and Legend share two children together, 6-year-old daughter Luna and 4-year-old son Miles, both conceived through IVF. The couple has been open about their fertility struggles in the past, including a pregnancy loss in 2020. At the time, Teigen shared that her pregnancy had ended after she was hospitalized for complications at 20 weeks. “We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before,” Teigen wrote, sharing intimate photos of her and Legend grieving their son Jack on a hospital bed. She later opened up about surviving public loss in an essay for Medium, writing, “I feel bad our grief was so public because I made the joy so public.” In 2021, Teigen spoke to People about the stigmas surrounding infertility. “My uterus is just not cooperating with me,” Teigen said at the time. “And it’s not a failure.”
Earlier this year, Teigen announced on Instagram that she was undergoing IVF treatments again. On Wednesday, she expressed her fears about announcing her latest pregnancy after her loss. “Every appointment I’ve said to myself, ‘Ok if it’s healthy today i’ll announce,’ but then I breathe a sigh of relief and decide I’m just too nervous still,” wrote Teigen. “I don’t think I’ll ever walk out of an appointment with more excitement than nerves but so far, everything is perfect and beautiful and I’m feeling hopeful and amazing.”
