It appears we may have a new celebrity couple on our hands: Billie Eilish and Jesse Rutherford appear to have confirmed their new relationship via public kissing. Who is Jesse Rutherford, you ask? He is the lead singer of the Neighborhood, the band responsible for the song “Sweater Weather” and probably some other music as well.
After a week of what the Daily Mail calls “furious speculation” (unbeknownst to me) that they have been dating, Eilish and Rutherford were photographed kissing while leaving an Indian restaurant in Studio City, Los Angeles. To each their own.
Rumors have indeed been circulating that Eilish, 20, and Rutherford, 31, are dating. On Friday, they were spotted eating pasta at a vegan restaurant that Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker are apparently investors in. Then fans posted videos allegedly showing Eilish and Rutherford holding hands at Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights. The videos are blurry as hell, but someone with a lot of time on their hands pieced together that Eilish’s brother and writing partner, Finneas, had posted an Instagram Story from the Universal Studios bathroom with Rutherford, while Eilish had posted a bathroom selfie of her own wearing a similar outfit to what’s shown in the videos.
This potential union, which neither party has confirmed beyond publicly kissing, has caused a lot of chatter about their 11-year age difference, especially since they appear to have known each other since they were younger. One photo posted to a Rutherford fan account in 2017, when Eilish was 16 and Rutherford was 26, shows them posing together. While Eilish is generally private about her love life, her last known partner was actor Matthew Tyler Vorce, with whom she was spotted hanging out in April 2021, though they reportedly broke up a month later.
I guess hooking up with the guy who sings “Sweater Weather” is one way to celebrate fall.
