This week, our first with the horror that is Daylight Saving Time, has been long and grueling. As I head into the weekend, I like to remind myself that life can be glamorous, fun, and spicy, and the best way to do so is to look at photos of beautiful people wearing beautiful things for inspiration! Let’s let the likes of Sydney Sweeney and Lili Reinhart lull us into an opulent weekend, shall we?
Best Little Black Dress
Kelly Rowland wore a black, LaQuan Smith cut-out gown at an art-world bash on behalf of the Rema Hort Mann Foundation, an art and cancer nonprofit that raised nearly $2 million dollars that the evening.
Best Monochromatic Look
Vanessa Hong did not come to play! Her red monochrome look at the Ferragamo cocktail party, celebrating the debut collection from Maximilian Davis, is one for the books.
Best Bit of Enduring Nostalgia
Alexa Chung and Christian Siriano, pictured here at the CODE8 beauty event at the Nines in New York, are still household names, but boy, did they raise me! Christian Siriano’s win on Project Runway in 2007 and the only season of It’s On With Alexa Chung (I watched every single episode) pulled me into the fashion universe as a preteen, and I haven’t been the same since.
Theory and Beverly Nguyen hosted an intimate dinner at 9 Orchard’s East Room to launch the brand’s holiday collection and kick off the season. Look at Beverly being the hostess with the mostest. I need a bite ASAP.
Best Regal Look
There will be naysayers out there, but I don’t care. This look on Alexandra Daddario at the Guggenheim International Gala does it for me. I love the sleeves, the neckline, the embroidery. Chef’s kiss.
Best Use of Color
It’s getting dreary out, but Bach Mai, the CFDA-nominated designer, brought the color to celebrate the launch of his collection at Neiman Marcus.
Best Aquatic Look
Sydney Sweeney looks pool-ready, which checks out considering she was attending the Armani beauty event for its Acqua for Life initiative. Wow, I miss summer.
Best “Aw-Inspiring” Duo
Lili Reinhart and Camila Mendes, who attended the same event as Sweeney, have a friendship that warms my heart. Their joint TikTok account with their Riverdale co-star Madelaine Petsch keeps me going.
Best Animal Impression
Excluding Evan Mock, this group seems to be heavily invested in animal prints. Emily Ratajkowski and Laura Harrier showed up to the Belvedere vodka launch party to let their wild side out. If only Mock got the memo, but two out of three isn’t bad.
Honey Dijon’s neckpiece at the Leslie Lohman Gala, an event to honor and celebrate LGBTQ+ visionaries, is mesmerizing. Where can I get one?
Best Dark Academia Look
As much as I hate to dig up the phrase “dark academia” — we collectively buried it in two years ago — it must be done. There’s no other way to describe Lori Harvey’s sharp look from the launch party for Burberry’s capsule collection at Nordstrom. Is she on her way to study? Is she simply serving for the sake of serving? All I know is that I will be copying this look next time I pull up to a library to do some work.
