It’s a good week to be Rihanna. After slyly sliding into the Golden Globes on Tuesday night and being showered with compliments during the show, the singer reminded us on Friday that 2023 will be her year.
A month before she’s set to perform at the Super Bowl, she dropped a little teaser. The 30-second clip doesn’t give away much, or really anything, about what we can expect. But it’s still enough to make me want to rewatch all of her music videos and performances in preparation for the halftime show.
In the teaser, Rihanna appears draped in a chartreuse fur coat by Area and with a perfectly sculpted vertical braid style, of course. A camera flashes. “Dude, Rihanna, we’ve waited for you,” one voice says. Another adds, “It’s been six years since the nine-time Grammy winner dropped an album.” A third asks, “Riri, where have you been?!”
As the clip ends, her 2016 song “Needed Me” plays, a reminder that we do need her. You can tune into the Rihanna concert on February 12 on Fox. You might have to watch some football, unfortunately.
