Multiple women have accused producer Sebastian Bear-McClard of sexual misconduct, according to a new report by Variety. The women allege the incidents took place during filming on Uncut Gems and Good Time from Elara Pictures, the production company he co-founded with the Safdie brothers in 2014.

The women’s statements were made in connection with a legal dispute involving Bear-McClard, according to Variety. He is in the middle of a contentious divorce with model Emily Ratajkowski as well as in private mediation with the Safdie brothers over his firing from Elara Pictures. In a statement obtained by Variety, one of his accusers said that Bear-McClard reached out to her via Instagram in 2016 to cast her in what she believed to be a small role in Good Time, starring Robert Pattinson. She was only 17 at the time. When she arrived on set for filming, she found out that she would not be filming with Pattinson, and instead was made to perform a scene naked with another actor. After production ended, she began a sexual relationship with Bear-McClard. (The legal age of consent in New York is 17.)

Another accuser said she met Bear-McClard on Instagram when she was 18. She alleges he began “grooming” her, promising to help her with her career. In a statement obtained by Variety, she recounts one incident that allegedly took place at the home Bear-McClard and Ratajkowski shared. “Sebastian and I started kissing,” she says in the statement. “Things escalated and then, without asking for my consent, Sebastian inserted himself inside me without using a condom.” The woman also claims Bear-McClard used an app on her phone to track her location and that he used antisemitic and derogatory language toward her. A third woman said in a statement obtained by Variety that Bear-McClard engaged in “troubling behavior” — though her claims did not include sexual misconduct in the workplace.

The producer allegedly was fired from Elara Pictures over his reaching out to a 15-year-old on Instagram and being romantically involved with an assistant on the set of Uncut Gems, Variety reported. A spokesperson for the Safdies told Variety, “The Elara team were made aware of Sebastian McClard’s behavior in July 2022. They took immediate action and terminated him.”

We reached out to representatives for Bear-McClard and Ratajkowski, and will update this piece if we hear back.
