Are Naomi Watts and Billy Crudup engaged? That’s the question Today show host Hoda Kotb was hoping to get an answer to on Thursday when the actress joined Kotb and Savannah Guthrie in the studio to talk about her menopausal-care company, Stripes.
“My eye is hurting,” Kotb said, zeroing her eyes on Watts’s left hand. “There’s like a big glint coming from some ring over here … It just struck me. It’s beautiful.” Guthrie chimed in, saying, “Hoda’s asking if you’re engaged.”
Watts responded with a perfect nonanswer: “Oh, the brain fog,” she joked, saying nothing more. A day earlier, Watts was photographed walking around New York with the same large marquise-cut diamond on her ring finger.
Fans began speculating that Watts and Crudup were dating in 2017, when they were seen eating, laughing, and holding hands in New York. The actors made their red-carpet debut in February 2022 at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. After last year’s Emmys, where Crudup won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role in The Morning Show, Watts posted a photo of the two of them together on the red carpet with the caption: “What a night … What a dress … What a gent …” I’d now like to add this: What a ring.
