14 Neutral Pieces That Actually Feel Fresh

Go ahead, be Switzerland.

At face value, neutrality might feel boring or uninspired. But there’s a reason why every capsule wardrobe checklist is filled with minimal pieces in various shades of cream, gray, black, and even navy: These everyday pieces are the bedrock of any sophisticated spring wardrobe.

Plus, as the seasons change and the weather becomes unpredictable at best, the last thing you want to add to your to-do list in the morning is finding a jacket that won’t clash with your pink-and-yellow striped sweater.

Still, it’s not hard to make minimalist-leaning pieces feel expensive and fresh: Just wear them together. Most cool-toned neutrals can be mix-and-matched, and warm-toned hues feel naturally cohesive.
