Pride Month came and went, but so did many parties. As we head into July, let’s look back on the best ones we missed and, if we were lucky, actually got to attend.
Antwaun Sargent, Aperture, and Gucci celebrated the release of Mystic Parallax, the first major monograph dedicated to the work of artist Awol Erizku, at the fashion house’s Wooster Bookstore in Soho. At the signing, guests mingled and sipped cocktails, including an Ethiopian honey wine, a tribute to Erizku’s heritage.
Best Poufs: Julia Fox
It’s nice to see a softer side of Fox, the side that wears poufs and frills. But I do miss the full-body latex suits. At the Document, Feeld, and Ludovic de Saint Sernin Pride celebration, Fox channeled an early-aughts “It” girl in a pin-striped lace-up top, miniskirt, and rose-colored glasses.
Graphic Dad: Andy Cohen
For the Boom Boom Room’s annual Pride party, Cohen slipped out of his classic suit and tie and into something more appropriate for a party full of Gen-Z attendees: a tie-dye graphic shirt.
Best Hair: Aquaria
Aquaria channeled Barbie-core with blonde roots and hot-pink ends at the Betsey Johnson x Happy Hippie Foundation Pride party, and it has me wondering why this isn’t her everyday look.
Best Necklace: Betsey Johnson
Where can I get my hands on this necklace?
Best Big Pants: King Krule
Do you even make indie music if you don’t own an ill-fitting pair of jeans? During Paris Fashion Week, King Krule performed his best hits on the Pont Alexandre III over the Seine. The Vans-hosted event also had live skateboarding.
Best Corset: Lourdes Leon
Leon attended the same star-studded event in this intricately laced corset. Super-cute and historically on theme for the event’s Pont Alexandre III setting.
Best Skirt: Naomi Elizée
On June 27, guests gathered on the Lower East Side to celebrate the launch of Honors, a new golf and lifestyle brand. Not only was Elizée the hostess with the mostest, but she also wore a country club-inspired outfit with a green-and-white-striped pencil skirt.
Glitz and Glamour: Quil Lemons
A sequined shirt is a sure way to grab the crowd’s attention, especially at a party for a fashion house known for its grand displays of glamour. Gucci, Antwaun Sargent, and Aperture celebrated the launch of artist Awol Erizku’s monograph Mystic Parallax, and Lemons was dressed to turn heads.
Best Dress(ed): Richie Shazam
Many of us are well dressed, but Shazam takes the act of dressing up seriously. At the Jean-Paul Gaultier x Richie Shazam pride dinner, Shazam wore a satin powder-pink Jean-Paul Gaultier corset dress with a bombshell bralette.
Best Cut-Outs: Oyinda
The brand Rui — best known for its subversive basics and intricately designed ready-to-wear pieces — had its official VIP store opening on June 28 on the Lower East Side. Oyinda arrived in this black circle cut-out top that is now on my personal shopping list.
